We believe
reading everything
isn't the answer
Summar AI was built by a team of researchers and engineers who were drowning in information and couldn't find a tool that actually helped. So we built it ourselves.

1.0 — Mission
We're building the layer between
the world's information and
the people who need to act on it
The volume of information published every day now far exceeds any person's ability to process it. Research papers, earnings calls, customer interviews, competitor announcements — the signal is in there. Getting to it is the problem.
SummarAI's mission is to compress the distance between raw information and human understanding. Not by replacing thinking — but by clearing the path to it.
Teams worldwide
From solo founders to Fortune 500 enterprise orgs.
Documents processed monthly
PDFs, videos, audio files, and web articles.
Average time saved
Vs. reading or watching the original content in full
Languages supported
Input and output across all major world languages.
2.0 — Our Story
How we
got here
Three years. One obsession. The same question every time: why is getting to the point still this hard?
2021
The problem became personal
Co-founders Maya and Dae spent a combined 6+ hours per day reading research papers, investor updates, and meeting transcripts. None of the existing tools — summarisers, note-takers, AI assistants — handled more than one format well. The idea crystallised: one tool, every format, always structured output.
2022
Summar AI is incorporated
The founding team of five left their roles at Google DeepMind and Stripe to build full-time. First office: a shared desk in a Tenderloin co-working space. First investor: Gradient Ventures, with a $2.4M pre-seed. First users: 40 researchers at UCSF.

Multimodal processing ships
After 14 months of model development, video and audio summarisation went live. Within 90 days the user base grew from 800 to 12,000. The Slack integration launched the same quarter, making SummarAI the first AI tool natively embedded in a team's daily workflow.

25,000 teams. Still day one
We process over 4 million documents a month across 50+ languages. The core problem hasn't changed — too much to read, not enough hours. We're a long way from done.

3.0 — What We Believe
Principles that
drive the work.
Speed is a feature
Every second shaved off a workflow compounds. We obsess over latency, loading states, and perceived performance as much as model accuracy. Fast matters
Output over input
We judge ourselves by what the user walks away with, not by the sophistication of what we built. A clean action item list beats an impressive model architecture every time.
Privacy is non-negotiable
Your documents are not training data. They are not stored longer than necessary. They are not shared. We built our security model first, then built the product around it.
Global by default
Information doesn't speak English. Neither do our users. We build with multilingual support from day one — not as an afterthought bolted on at the end of a roadmap.
Honest about limits
AI gets things wrong. We surface confidence scores, source attributions, and uncertainty signals so users can apply judgement. We don't pretend the model is infallible.
Design is the product
A summary that's hard to read is still a failure. We invest in typography, information hierarchy, and interaction design with the same rigour we apply to model quality.
